 Vincent” is one of my favorite songs by Don McLean, who wrote it as his respectful tribute to Vincent van Gogh, the Dutch post-impressionistartist. This song is also known by its opening line, “Starry Starry Night“, a reference to Van Gogh’s 1888 paintingThe Starry Night” or “De sterrennachtin Dutch. Don McLean wrote the lyric in 1971 after reading a book about the life of the Vincent van Gogh. Don McLean refers to various paintings by Vincent van Gogh in this song – the everlasting paintings that truly speak million words regarding Van Gogh’s amazing creativity and outstanding talent as an artist.
